The United States Enters Vietnam; Citizens Outraged
March 8th, 1965

Today, President Lyndon B. Johnson has announced the arrival of American troops on Vietnamese soil. This decision has stirred up a strong response, particularly among the younger generation. An anti-war movement within the youth is in full swing. Supporters of this movement preach world peace aswel as a peaceful end to the conflicts in Vietnam.

A millitary draft is on its way for healthy young men to be sent abroad to the jungles of Vietnam. Student-led protest groups are doing everything in their power to avoid the draft, and many have fled to Canada.

The nation of Vietnam is split into two halves, with the Soviet Union backing the norther half, and American soldiers entering the Southern half. Through anti-war sentiment and North Vietnam's brutality, the outcome of this war is uncertain.
